Man plans....God laughs!

This is one of my friends favorite sayings! It is SO true!

I had PLANNED on getting the top of my scrappy strip quilt sewn yesterday, but God had other plans.
My daughter's boyfriend is stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. He got a call by his sister that his dad was involved in a bad motorcycle accident. Of course, being a nurse and being married to a nurse and being so close to the hospital in San Diego, California my husband and I felt the need to go to check it all out. Actually, we love my daughter's BF and knew that was what we needed to do so they could be at peace for the night, as he couldn't fly out until today (you know you have to be granted leave by your C.O.)

Luckily, his dad, Tony, was MUCH better than we had anticipated, of course we see the worst of the worst at our hospital, so to US he looked pretty good (that means stable). He will be extremely sore and on the mend for a while, but he was conscious and that says it all to us!

Darkel is now in California, and visiting with his dad, Melyssa stayed in Virginia to hold down the fort!It will be so good to see him before he leaves!

So pictures of the quilt to follow.....GOD WILLING!

Update on Triplets

Remember my blog from April 30th, where my friend and co-worker's brother and SIL had triplets that were in NICU?

Well, they are getting bigger and stronger every day. Here's an awesome picture of the triplets with their AUNT!!!

They picture just screamed out to be a pillow--and I go where my muse takes me!

I tried to make the pillow match the quilt Danielle got from Theresa and I (see blog on March 19th, 2011).

Party banner

One of my nearest and dearest friend's, Susan, owns her own business called "The Day...Your Way". She help plan weddings, wakes, bday parties, etc....and when I mean plan, that means she works with and for you from initial meeting, until the last crumb is swept away! This leaves you to ENJOY your party and guests!
I follow both her blogs regularly and get the best party ideas, recipes, and I love reading the her authentic posts on family and life!

and
http://www.thedayyourway.com

Anyway...I digress.
Susan asked me to make a banner for her for her business. I had made one for her earlier for Valentine's Day:

Well, the only suggestion was that it be a green color that matched her brochure:
Well...I don't know if anyone else is like me, but I swear I spend more time trying to find the "right" material, than I do if I would have made 5 projects. I narrowed it down to 2, then ended up making both because I liked the polka dots, and my daughter liked the cupcakes (even though they didn't show up in the background, she thought the colors were better and brighter)!:

And the finished banners:

My lovely daughter, Melyssa, who lives in Virginia sent me this lovely gift!

Thank you so much, Missy!!!!

Summer Runners

So....since I had to do some major learning on my new Bailey Midarm, I made three summer runners (why summer runners you ask?...because Jana asked me for one).

Turned on some:

And went to town:
Front:

Back: Yeah..it's reversible...

And started a little something for me:

Plus I put the binding on two quilts---just have to sew to the back!
What a productive day...I LOVE when that happens!

Quilt shop in Temecula

On the way to my cousin,Pete's 30th bday lunch, I stopped by a quilt shop in Temecula called Quilter's Coop (co-op).

The shop is HUGE, and has a different space for each genre of quilting: reproduction fabric spot, civil war fabric spot, shabby chic spot, kids material spot, plus tools, patterns, etc....I could go on and on....it was a good thing I was on a time limit or...what budget?????
If you get the opportunity..stop by!

Works in Progress

Making a strippy quilt from the scraps left over from the two quilts I made for my brothers:

Theresa and I were commissioned to make 2 quilts for a friend/co-worker's 2 sisters:
The first one is done, except for sewing down the binding. The second one is a new pattern we are doing called the Disappearing Nine Patch.

Here is the 9 patch BEFORE it disappears:
I still have to cut it up and resew (is that a word?) it together to make it much more interesting...pictures to follow soon!
