Look....I've Got A Flimsy

What is a flimsy (all the non-quilters ask)??? It is the BEST time....when you completely finish the TOP of the quilt, but it has yet to be sandwiched with the batting, backing and then quilted! Still it looks like a quilt. Many quilters at this point send their flimsys out to be quilted by someone else, but not me, I bought a midarm machine and frame and quilt my own....I am not very good at design yet, mostly I just meander and call it a day!
So today I plan on getting this TOP onto my Gracie Frame!

What is it???

Made a few of these today
Well, of course you guessed it....they are iphone holder uppers. I made on for Melyssa (can you say Hello Kitty?)
One for my Amanda (Japanese Fabric):
And one for me (predictably blue):
I got the free tutorial from: www.fromblankpages.blogspot.com

Who Am I Kidding??

So, this month I had put myself on a "fabric diet", 'cuz God knows I got more fabric than I got hours left in my life to use it all!! And everything was going well until May 21st when I clicked on a "MAY SHOP HOP" in my email. The prices were fantastic AND I actually found shops that sell 1/2 yard cuts!!I couldn't resist!!
I have LOVED the colors in the fabric forever. It reminds me of Mardi Gras and Partying~~~
I have no definite plans for this fabric bunch, but I love the autumn colors!!
My plan for the Christmas stack of fabric is to make 2 Christmas quilts. Definitely one for my dad and stepmom and one maybe for my boss or Secret Santa pick! I guess now all I can hope for is a hundred more years of good eyesight and coordination to finish all the quilts I have plans for!

On My Design Wall

Ok, it's not really a design wall, I just hang my squares/strips on my drapes so I can see them and keep them unwrinkled until I sew them together!

You know the funny thing about this quilt is that I went o the quilt shop to get purpe, GREEN and yellow and got home before I realized that i got blue instead of green----oh well, over 50 and losing brain cells every day!

All my ducks are in a row

Darkel and Melyssa returned home from Virginia. Darkel is now stationed in San Diego. I hope he has a LONG, LONG, LONG stay here in California!

His dad, sister and best buddies are here, and I am sure they will be happy to have him home too!

Darkel made it here from Virginia in record time----- they left Virginia at 5pm on Wednesday and drove practically straight through and landed here at 8:30pm tonight, Friday!!!

They were exhausted and really didnt want their picture taken, but I think they look wonderful!!!

Amanda was home to welcome D&M, and Tony dropped by to say hi:

Darkel is off first thing tomorrow to pick up his new car:

THIS WAS SUCH A GREAT DAY FOR ME!!!!!!!

And where was Sherwood (you know he hates missing out on anything), but fishing was involved- he's in Bridgeport with his bud, Pete:

But he remembered to take his camping quilt I made him years ago:

28th Anniversary

We are elebrating our 28th anniversary today! We agreed not to exchange gifts as we just had Lasix eye surgery and that was our gifts to each other.

But.....Sherwood cheated and got me a gift...shame on him..... Lucky me!

Plus we are having dinner at "SPLASH", the restaurant in The Surf and Sand Hotel in Laguna Beach!
