SO...Jackie (my skinny mini sister) made the plans this year for Jana's 46th birthday (yes, Jana IS the baby girl, #7).
Jackie's plans for the day included getting to Coronado in San Diego, riding a bicycle built for 4, drinking, lunching, shopping and dinner!
I was SO okay with all of that except the bicyle part. For days I would look in the mirror and say to myself, "Do I look like I'm in any shape to excercise?" A resounding "no" was the answer........but........this was not all about me....so I figured the day could go a few ways:
1-We would have a miserable bike ride and harrass Jackie about it for the rest of her life------good memories!
2-We would have a great time and talk about it for a lifetime----good memories!
3-We would end up in the hospital.....good material for my brother's to tease us about for the rest of our lives----good memories!
So....off we went!
To Coronado:
To Lunch---yummy salad and pizza!
On to the bike shop: Where the owner actually tried to talk us out of riding, saying it was ALOT of exercise and we would be "sweaty"! NOW WE WERE COMMITTED!!!
Through the park:
Under the Coronado Bridge
UPHILL:
To the Del Coronado Hotel
Then a little shopping, some drinks...and back the way we came! There was a jumper on the bridge that kept our attentions diverted for a while, but they talked her down!
ON to dinner at Ocean Prime in San Diego:
We had a great day! The weather was beautiful, the food and drinks to die for, the company AWESOME!
Now I feel foolish for the Novena I did, praying to pass a kidney stone so I had a good excuse not to go----Thank God for Unanswered Prayers!
Happy Birthday, my Jana!
I really enjoyed reading all your blogs JO. You and your sister are sooo cool together.
