Quilt for Organ Donation
Theresa and I are making a quilt for the Hospital in conjunction with One Legacy, an organ procurement group.
The ribbon color for One Legacy is teal. We are trying to keep the colors in the teal and pink family. Here's our first block:

Swap Recipient
My squares from the Red, White and Blue Swap came in the mail today:
I also received my red and white 5 inch squares (charms) from the Red and White Block swap:
I really don't have plans yet for the red and white squares--still thinking. But I will make a Fourth of July quilt next year with all the squares from the red, white and blue blocks--it will be great to revisit them in June next year and have a quilt almost already made!
I finally figured out the best arrangement of the block for Scott's 50th b-day quilt. You may remember from a previous post that I did not have enough contrast in the block. The green was just the right fix. One block down....a million more to go!
Somebody please tell me why blogger wants to turn your pictures for no reason!

I Hate When This Happens
So, I was having a fantastic quilting day...nothing but time on my hands...rolling along, singing a song.....and then:
Now, if all the squares are the same size, how in the world is this row so uneven? Yikes, looks like I've got alot of ripping out to do, but as they say:
"As you sew, so shall you rip"
So, being discouraged about that, I decided to cut the squares for my brother-in-law's 50th bday quilt. Put that together and realized......not enough contrast:
Well, that was a big bummer. I will have to go to JoAnn's to get a darker color.
So, when all else fails, and you are feeling discouraged, what do you do? Rely on an old trusty pattern that is failproof. So I whipped up 3 cosmetic bags, forgot to take a picture of the Dallas Cowboy one that I gave to Tony (my youngest daughter's boyfriend).

When the children become the parent
So... Darkel (my oldest daughter's boyfriend) got leave from the NAVY to visit his dad. His dad is doing well after the motorcycle accident from earlier (6 weeks ago). He is finally at home, but has rehab for his cognitive thinking and physical therapy for his shoulder, etc. This is rehab from 9am-5pm five days a week.
Darkel was able to break away and meet us for lunch yesterday at San Clemente Pier--
So we are sitting at the restaurant, enjoying the view and waiting for Darkel
AND DAD GETS THE FOLLOWING TEXT FROM MELYSSA, as she had to stay in Virginia:
"Be appropriate. Don't embarrass me. Act your age. Be smart. Be safe. Don't talk about your thong or the time I sharted in the library parking lot when I was 7"
REALLY.......since when did the daughter parent the parent....and do we really need the advise????
Funny how I remember having almost the same conversation with both my girls not too long ago when we were meeting my friends for lunch......oh the tables have turned!

Finished quilt for "Quilts for Kids"
Just finished this quilt for "Quilts for Kids". I am working on the second one, but thought I would share this one hot off the press (or rather, frame).Today was the perfect weather to use my quilt frame in my patio without roasting to death!

A Double Sided Quilt
Theresa and I made this double sided quilt for our friend/fellow nurse as she is celebrating her 50th birthday.
Lisa, the recipient, loves "I LOVE LUCY" and she is also known to frequent match.com and e-harmony---so we gave her a bunch of fireman on the back to cuddle up to at night!
