New Tradition

So I go to set the table for our Thanksgiving dinner today, and I realize that my tablecloth is missing!! I tell my husband that he MUST go get another one at Bed, Bath and Beyond and he states, "I am not going to any major store on Black Friday!!! You mean to tell me that with ALL the fabric you have that you can't just whip one up?"

Many scathing looks and eyerolls later (yup-that's me!), I go and pick out my VERY FAVORITE autumn material (that I have been saving because it's too beautiful to cut)from my stash:

and some funky gold material (don't remember where or why I got this)!
And I made this:

After this meal I will back and quilt it so that it becomes our traditional tablecloth for Thanksgiving!

Sherwood says, "I told you so---easy, peasy!"

Happy Thanksgiving

I am so thankful for the many blessings in my life:

A husband that is faithful and devoted.

2 beautiful daughters who bring much that fulfill my life.

A great, big, dysFUNctional family, who accept my as I am, and support me in all things.

A secondary family---my in-laws, who bring joy and love to my life. (Gemeinhardts)

Friends who bring happiness, joy and color to my life.
One who just loves me, and brings laughter and beauty to my life (Jana)---enough said
One in particular challenges me AND helps to expand my horizons (SUSAN).
One friend that leaves me in stitches (T).Every time!!!
And many others...

A job where I can serve and do my life's calling-even when it's stressful and challenging.

A warm house with a dog who waits for me to come home and wags her tail every time!

And all who support my quilting craze!!!

I know that I don't tend to be thankful for all the blessings that God has given to me, but on this day I wanted to stop and reflect a little!

Thank you ...all!!!

Code Blue....Bernina 730

My Bernina 730(Gracie)--had a full arrest yesterday morning as I was going to embroider for a friend.....rushed it 911 to Mel's sewing center.. That's right, it didn't turn on AT ALL... no power....nothing....prayers please!
This is the hole where my baby used to live....so sad,,,

Now all I can do is sew....cut out all the pieces for my mom's Christmas present. Fabric was from Shabby Chic Fabrics. They have the most beautiful fabrics, and this one screamed, "Deanne" all over it! It will totally match her bedroom!

All that fabric yummy goodness!!!!

Although I am devastated that my BEST machine is indisposed, I did just this week receive my other Bernina 155(Daisy) and she is AWESOME!!!! A real workhorse---Theresa got to use her yesterday while we were sewing up some Christmas goodies, and she said she "purred". It's true, she sounds like she loves to sew! No bells and whistles on this one, but I am in love!

Progress???

Been working on alot of things:

Melyssa picked out the yarn for this scarf while we were in Virginia in August---just started to be cold enough here for me to work on this at night:

Hubby bought this material for me when he was on his annual fishing trip. This is from Bridgeport:

Got dreams of what I will do with these lovely batiks!

Got definite plans on using this later (next year)!

Also, took me all day Veteran's Day to whip up a NAVY scrub hat for my friend Danny (yes a Navy Vet). He took a silly picture wearing it, but you get the idea. Danny works in Cath Lab and usually wears his "Raiders" scrub hat. Now he has two to alternate!
This is one of those "quick" projects that took me ALL DAY, because the instructions were written, and I am a Visual learner. So alot of ripping out of seams happened. When all was said and done, it really is an easy pattern!

Veteran's Day

Make sure you tell a veteran today how much his/her service meant to you!
I made this quilt for a veteran who works at my hospital and hope he is at work today so I can give it to him! He served in the Army, was air calvary, and this panel reminded me of him! I hope likes it!
P/S---He LOVED the quilt-got misty eyed----he made my day!
