Grandma's Birthday Quilt Done

Darkel and Melyssa asked me to make a birthday quilt for his grandma's birthday on September 1st.

I was told she liked blue, and since I had a short timeframe to make it, I pulled all my blue scraps, bought some white material, batting and a SO cute backing!

I am proud of the way this turned out! Made in 5 days!

Sweat Shop

My little sweat shop was open today! Being the only employee with 2 commissioned quilt orders, 2 babies born this month, one quilt already on the frame---aye, aye, aye....I sewed and quilted myself to exhaustion!

First quilt is in the flimsy stage-will be loaded on the frame in the morning! It is for my son-in-law's grandmother who's birthday is September 1st.

2 of the tumbler blocks were cut from Darkel's old navy uniform. I thought Grandma Johnson would like a little of him in this quilt!
All the material came from my stash--my favorite color is blue, and I had stashed quite a ton of it! I am glad to share it with another blues lover!

Also, this is quilted and ready for binding! It is an old UFO! I originally made it using the 10minute block pattern-made from a layer cake! Ended up not being a favorite pattern to make, but I am glad it's nearly finished and out of my sewing room!

Very fall looking quilt! I believe it will be a gift for my sister, Jana's in laws!

Queen sized quilt

I have had this fabric for YEARS! Originally, I thought about making this quilt for Amanda, but then endd up making her another one!

This fabric is called "Good Fortune" by Kate Spain for Moda.

Somehow after making a bundle of half square blocks, I tucked it away. I found it again in my stash last week and fell in love with it again! This time I decided to finish it for our queen sized bed! I was lucky enought to get matching border material by browsing through ALOT of

During the process of making this quilt, I discovered something about myself. I used to think that grey was my least favorite color, but I find grey very soothing in quilts. No, my least favorite color is definitely orange, and although there are pops of orange in this quilt, I mostly discarded the blocks that have a lot, ( too much) orange in them. Heaven only knows what I will do with the leftover orphan block!

Maybe a donation quilt!

Anyway, on my design wall is the latest using. Good Fortune! I think that is a wonderful name for q quilt that will cover you while you dream!

Matching border fabric!

Requests Anyone???...........

So my Amanda asked me to make her a snuggy to wear at her "freezing" office! I decided to put elastic inthesleeve cuffs, and a button on the back, so she wouldn't trip if she got up suddenly?

I also made her a reversible tablerunner for her new apartment!

And what was Amanda doing while I was finishing her snuggy? Why, she went fishing with dad, her aunt and uncles!

When I finished, Emily and I went to IHOP:

And then to JoAnns, to get material for a "3 Hour Quilt" that we are making later this week! Our material coincidentally, is matching, but our focus fabrics are different! Emily fell in love with this material:

And mine:

This is a UFO that has been sitting, waiting to be quilted for over a year! Finally got it on the frame and used loop d loops for quilting! I think it looks nice with the florals!
